Chik-Fil-A Chicken Sandwiches

I was recently informed that one of The Blog Techs favorite snacks is Chik-Fil-A chicken sandwiches.  I highly disagree with Chik-Fil-A's politics and I prefer to make my own junk food so I can make it healthier than the food chains, so, I made him some.

I bought some slider buns, spread them with garlic butter.

The secret to this recipe is to marinate chicken breast pieces in dill pickle juice.  Put the pieces in a ziplock bag and pour in some dill pickle juice.  Refrigerate them for several hours or overnight.  You can see the tinge of color from the pickle juice on the meat.

Toast the buns under the broiler.

Pour a bit of oil in a heavy sauce pan.  You only need about 1/4 inch.  Heat it over medium high heat.

Season some flour with salt, pepper and poultry seasoning.  Dip the chicken pieces in the flour, coating the entire piece.  Cook them until golden and drain on paper towels.  If the oil is hot enough these will not be greasy.

Place them on the buns and top them with some dill pickle slices.  These were really good.  Kids love them, even very big kids!

It would never have occured to me to marinate chicken in dill pickle juice. But guess what? I will give it a try!

In dill pickle juice You say! Well that's something I often have at home so this is a must try!

Even we on this side of the ocean have heard about Chick-Fil-A's politics and they wouldn't be able to get many customers over here if they tried to start up here too.

Have a great day!
Christer.
MUCH better to make "junk food," at home!!!!!! :-)

They sound delicious!
Yay! Way to stick it to Chik-Fil-A by making their sandwich at home and revealing their dill pickle juice secret to the world! I applaud you.

I'm not familiar with this fast food outlet, what's the politics about, unethical chicken raising?
Pickle juice, now that's a new one but I trust you, lol!!I whole heartedly agree with Debra!

McDonalds has a dill pickle taste to their chicken sandwiches, too ( I notice it in the biscuit version especially). I tried to replicate it and the only thing I could think of was to marinate it in pickle juice! I didn't do it, because it seemed so silly. But since Jaz says so, I will try it now!

Chik-Fil-A does not discriminate in any way against gays. My cousin is openly gay and she and her partner own a franchise in CA.

I love Chik-Fil-A but stopped going because of their politics too AND because they are so expensive compared to some other choices.
Thank you for this recipe!
It's something even I can make.
Now if you could do a post on how to make their waffle fries...I might just cry out of happiness!
:D

Thank you so much for this recipe! I wouldn't be caught dead at CFL since their politics are really offensive to me. Makes me smile to think of giving em the finger by making their sandwiches at home!! :)

thank you for this posting and thank you for mentioning their politics. I will admit to "missing" chick fil a but I'm going to give this a shot. I've heard stories of a secret ingredient being some sort of marinade. Awesome! Thank you and thank you for disagreeing with them. :-)

Never in a million years would I have thought to marinade chicken in pickle juice! How funny! We're trying to eat a little healthier right now, but I'll save this recipe for another day. :-)

OMG - absolutely brilliant! Chick-Fil-A has me in a bit of a quandary: I love their chicken but their politics (or religiously motivated persecution of gays in other countries) render me a tad queasy.

Thanks for posting this!

I've never had one so have no idea what I've missed. Your's look wonderful. Yep..heard about their politic's. :)
P.S. I didn't say, but you already KNOW how I feel about their politics because you know me pretty well by now. At least the basics. I'll make my own following your recipe, thank you.
