Happy 4th of July 2013

Happy 4th of July to everyone out there celebrating it!  I have been cooking all week for the mission. This is one of the big desserts I made for them. A berry trifle.
First I made angel food cakes.

 Lots of them.

I sliced the cakes and layered them with berries.

Then they are covered with vanilla pudding mixed with condensed milk and whipped cream.

Finally, it is finished with fresh berries.

It should be made 24 hours ahead of time and refrigerated.  They are getting this along with pulled pork sandwiches with cole slaw and a brownie pretzel dessert.
Hope you see a lot of these tonight.

Yum! Do you stay to help serve? I once helped in our church soup kitchen, and I enjoyed the chance to talk with the homeless who came.

I think I've had trifle once and from what I remember it was quite nice. This was one of those readymade for restaurants by the roads so my guess is that they are delicious if one makes them oneself :-)

Have a Happy 4th of July!
Christer.
