How To Make a Perfect Steak

I made the boys steaks for dinner the other night.  Try this technique and you may never make a steak any other way again.  First I started the mushrooms.  Slice a bunch of button mushrooms and throw them in  a skillet with a pat of butter.  Sprinkle them with salt and pepper.  Cover them and cook them over medium heat until they release their juices.

Bring the steaks to room temperature and sprinkle them with sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper.  Rub it in thoroughly on both sides.  Let them sit for a bit.

Remove the lid from the mushrooms and continue to cook until they turn golden.  They will have a rich, earthy flavor now.

Turn on the exhaust over your stove.  Preheat a cast iron skillet so the steak will sizzle when it hits the pan.  Cook each steak for 2 minutes on each side.

Remove to a plate, place a pat of butter on the steak and let the it rest for 15 minutes. Adjust the time according to how thick your steak is.

A perfect steak in no time at all.  My guys said these were the best steaks they have ever eaten.

 Teddy wants one too!

We are off today to the first Fall festival!

That looks wonderful only my wife and daughter won't eat mushrooms, they won't even taste those wonderful things no matter how they are prepared. My wife will pick their molecules of mushroom from any dish. So sad!

That's more or less the way I do it but I usually prefer a well done steak.

I'm in between thunder storms right now, the last one passed just above my cottage, not much rain though. Just as well so the grass won't grow that much :-)

have a great day!

If you can't BBQ it then I would say that what you have shown is definitely the best way.
But of course, it also depends upon the quality of the steak.

I grew up in Texas and every steak was always served with a pat of butter on top. Delicious.

I could eat that steak, with a bog glass of red wine.

Fall festival already? Cool!

Jaz, I haven't tried them with the mushrooms this way, but my husband sears the steak in the iron skillet this way, then puts it on the pre-heated grill to finish... they are the best, most succulent steaks he has ever made, and absolutely delicious! I'm glad you let others onto this secret!
