Get Your Amish On Here

If you are Amish curious, you will enjoy these photos.  We ended up right in the middle of Amish country.  Click on any photos to enlarge.
 The sign does not lie.

 Another beautiful Fall day.

These cows are on an Amish farm.

You can tell it is an Amish farm because there are no electric lines to the house or barn.  And a clothes line with Amish clothes flapping in the breeze is a dead giveaway too.

 Another Amish farm.

This is how the Amish stack their cut corn stalks.

 A closeup.

Is this the result of an Amish DUI?

 A small boy driving.

Almost every farm sells something.  This is their only form of advertising.

Raking the leaves.

Hi Joyce! My in-laws live about an hour from Lancaster, PA, so I've driven around the area and seen the Amish countryside too. Great photos! And I love all their homemade products and quilts!

I love Amish country and my husband and I go every single year to Shipshewana/Middlebury/Emma area. It's so peaceful and we shop at all the Amish run shops that they have out of their farms. Best raw honey we've ever found and in a 12 pound container for a fraction of the price we would pay from the store or a place around where we live now. My goal is to retire out there. I would absolutely love it.
Glad you had a wonderful trip to Amish country! :D

Oh how I wish I could drive around there too :-) I've heard that we might have an Amish family here too now but I can't find any info about it anywhere so I guess it might be wrong.

I like their lifestyle but would never fit as an Amish myself, I wouldn't let anyone tell me how to live my life :-) :-)

Have a great day!
Christer.

WONDERFUL. Completely wonderful. A simpler way of life.
My Rare One watches some appallingly awful reality series about Amish kids who leave the culture and about the Amish mafia. They do a disservice to Amish everywhere.

Oh-yes- there is a bittersweet quality to the Amish life- a life of simplicity and hard work- hands to work and hearts to God. I know it well having grown up in PA~ xo Diana
Wonderful photographs, Joyce! Beautiful scenery. Thank you, as always, for taking the time to share things like this with us.
