Christmas Cookie Craziness

For those who asked, these Empire Biscuits have raspberry jam in the middle.  You can find the recipe here: http://octoberfarm.blogspot.com/search?q=empire+biscuits

These are probably the tastiest of all the cookies I make.

We eat very few of any of these cookies.  I give my family a couple each day.  The rest will be made into cookie plates and given to all the elderly people in my neighborhood.  The rest will be going to the shelter on Christmas Eve.

These wreathes are always a big hit.

The trees and wreathes took 9 hours to make.  It took a very long time to place each piece of dried fruit and nuts on each cookie.

I made lots of rugelach too.

And kipples!

These kipples were made from my mother's recipe which is in her handwriting.  She has been gone for almost 50 years but when I make these I am still the little girl standing in the kitchen helping her.  They taste and smell exactly the same as they did long long ago.  The magic of cooking memory!

Makes me wish I were an elderly neighbour.

I like how the smell of cookies makes you feel like a kid again.

Your home must smell divine with all the baking. So wonderful to have a handwritten recipe from your mum.

They all look so deliciuos!

But it must take forever with only one oven! I hope they will fix the other one quickly!

Have a great day!

Your home must smell heavenly . . . I love baking Christmas cookies, but this year it's just the two of us, well, I just can't get up the gumption to bake. I'll just visit here and enjoy yours. It would be great if we could smell them through the computer. I know, I'll go light my new gingerbread candle, LOL.
Have a wonderful Christmas.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)

What wonderful cookies!
I am a little girl again in the kitchen with my mom when I make a cookie with dates and walnuts and called Michigan Rocks. Don't you love recipes that do that?

What a generous thing to do, especially at this time of year.

I have two cookie recipes written in my mother's hand that I treasure - memories!
It's a wonderful thing you do for others -
Mary
All of my recipes are in my own handwriting. I do have a cookbook that I have passed on that was my great grandmothers..then my grandmothers, my mothers, and then mine. Now my daughter, Maryalice owns it. Has for many years now.
It has to be such a treasure to have it in your own mother's handwriting!
I try to imagine how you do all you do..and it isn't easy! :):)
