Spruce Forest

After we left the Amish market, we visited this charming village.

 It is an artists enclave.

They not only sell their creations but they teach classes and give demonstrations too.

All of the buildings sit beneath the majestic spruce trees.

The iron smith had some great pieces for sale.  The gate was priced at 1400.00.

 The wood smiths studio.

You can see just inside, he had beautiful pepper mills for sale.

This is a bird carvers shop.  He lives upstairs.

 Sculptures for sale.

It is such a serene setting.  The village is nestled right at the base of huge mountains.

These are some of the nicest log cabins I have ever seen.

 A basket studio.

An old headstone. Click for a closer look.

 A weaver's studio.

 The pottery studio.

Inside one of the cabins.

This looks like an awesome place to visit and live. Think they might need a quilter or good weed puller?

What a beautiful place! I love to walk around in places like that, we have some over here too but the artists don't live there and their not that many at the same place, they just have their workshops.

I like gates like that but they donä't work especially well with an old cottage :-)

Have a great day!
Christer.
I love artists' enclaves like that! How idyllic it must be for them.

What a very interesting post. I would enjoy visiting that place.
I love the log cabins. We thought of having one built in Maine had we decided to move back but we never did. These are adorable and what a lovely setting for them.
I lived in one as a child..my Dad and Grandfather and other men built it. They built all their homes...
They were all loggers and we lived in the camp. I remember watching the men build them and still recall how they did it.
What a treat it was to see them.
Ours was a little two story one. My bed was upstairs in the loft.
Ahhh..the memories :)

I want to live in that cottage! I have a thing about wooden cottages! Do n't they just look like they came out from a fairy tale?
