Homemade Hot Chocolate and Marshmallows

I sure wish we had the weather to go with this recipe.  We are going to be in the 70's for the next few days.  Strange, strange weather.  I made homemade hot chocolate and marshmallows to give to my little friends.

I don't think the weather will stop them from drinking it.

You can find my marshmallow recipe here:  http://octoberfarm.blogspot.com/2009/10/homemade-marshmallows.html

To make the hot chocolate mix,  pour 2 cups of sugar into your food processor bowl.  Add 1 cup of good dark cocoa powder, 2-1/2 cups of powdered milk (low fat to keep it from clumping) and 2 T. of cornstarch.  Add 6 oz. of chopped dark chocolate and 1/4 tsp. of vanilla extract.  Pulse until you have a fine powder.

When you are ready to serve it, fill a cup about 1/3 full of the cocoa mix and add boiling water.  Stir until it is smooth and all lumps are gone.  Add as many marshmallows as you can!

Btw....the kids ate every bit of the inside out ravioli yesterday.  It is now their favorite dish.  They said is is bomb.  So now things are no longer 'the bomb', they are just bomb.  Just to keep you up on teenage lingo!

Thank you for this recipe! I have been thinking of making some gift jars of it (and now, of course, I will have to also make marshmallows...) and now I can! So, "bomb", eh?

That would be great to have here today and a few days more, temperatures will drop to 32 and lower for a few days now. I had never heard about putting marshmallows in cocoa until I was quite old, not something we normally do but I have to admit I love it :-)

Have a great day!

Christer.

We have no summer weather here yet. Might be a fire for Christmas day - very strange indeed for us.

Your homemade hot chocolate and marshmallows are bomb! I just saw where the name of your cottage kitty, pyewacket, comes from! But the movie is not in our library's collection, too bad!

Oh my goodness! I LOVE hot chocolate though I rarely have it in Hawaii. I have cold mocha instead, but I would have loved this in Illinois. Double yum!
What a nice addition for a Christmas gift too. I think I will buy a teacup and saucer..make a this recipe with a cute card with instructions and give them as gifts to my girlfriends.. Yes? :) Thanks, Joyce!! You are definitely BOMB!! ;)
