Ramp Festival

 Sorry for the blurry pic but The Blog Tech thought it was fun to take "ramp" pics on the way to our first ramp festival of the year.

 This one is held in beautiful West Virginia.  If you've never been to West Virginia, it is simply one of the most beautiful places.

 This is a small festival in a cute little park on top of a small mountain.

 Woodcarvings.

 Ramp candy.  Chocolate covered ramps, ramp flavored hard tack, and ramp mints.  My daughter tried the ramp mints and said they ruined her life.

 Rebel flag territory.

 This was so cute.  Each picnic table had ramps as a centerpiece and a bowl of green peppermints to help with your 'ramp breath' after you've eaten.

 Wooden hand carved ramp plaques.

 Ramp butter.

 Ramp dips, ramp seasoning, ramp vinegar.  all things ramp for sale and taste testing.

 Fried ramps are very good.

 Ramp hot dogs, ramp salad, ramp potato soup and ramp hashbrowns.

The Blog Tech's fiance really, really likes ramps. 
 On the way home we stopped at a Hungarian smoke house.

its amazing to me that something so simple and so abundant is made into so many dishes,, here its just something we gather and eat in spring,, wow, this is taking Ramps to a whole new level!

I've heard that we actually now have Rams festivals here. I'll see if I can find out if any is nearby so I can go there. I am however pretty sure they won't sell rams candy :-) I have to say it even sounbds pretty nasty :-)

That is one original, if not quirky, festival. I could do without the Confederate flag and the welcoming guns however.

West Virginia is beautiful countryside for sure. Glad the Blog Tech took pics. His fiance is gorgeous. I personally was impressed with all the uses for RAMPS. If I were at the festival I would have tried the FRIED ramps (do they have dipping sauce?) and would have had to bring home a tub of RAMP BUTTER.

These 'ramps' concoctions look delicious. I had to look up what a ramp was and I can appreciate their versatility.
Around here we have 'fiddleheads'.....ferns in their infancy before they stretch out and up.

Well, for the love of Greene County... I grew up in this area and don't ever remember eating a single ramp. I feel cheated. I know that Hungarian Smokehouse well.

I didn't realize you are close to West Virginia!

Haha about your daughter's comment about the mints :P I might say the same. Those two things don't seem to go together. Or, did she mean bc she can't stop eating them 😁?
