The Last Day of the After School Program

Yesterday was the last day of the after school program so I made a feast for the kids.  It also happened to be Cinco de Mayo so I made Mexican food.  I bought these two pinatas and stuffed them full of all kinds of good candy.  The kids had never had a pinata before and they had a blast with them.

I made 6 quarts of salsa.

And endless chicken and cheese taquitos.

I ended up making 70 of them.

And chili con queso which they ate with tortilla chips.

I sure am going to miss cooking for them until next Fall.  What will I do with an extra 6-7 hours a day that I will have now?

That was a great last day for them :-)
I haven't seen a pinnata in the real either, don't even know if one can find any over here.

I'm pretty sure You'll find something to fill allthat extra time You'll get now :-)

Have a great day!

Christer.

And on the seventh day He rested, and it was good....

You have earned recovery time...but knowing you, you will probably
have another project to tackle in a blink....in the meantime bask in the warmth of their love....

Come on down and cook for me,hahaha. But seriously, the pinatas are awesome! :} Pamper yourself for a few months. Meditate perhaps? Make some potions and lotions? Read something funny? Do some Halloween crafts ?

Well, you could write a cookbook. Research about making bath and shower soaps that make the skin soft. and then make a few to see how they turn out. Putter around in your craft room.

I like the cookbook idea, could you make one age suitable for your after school kids? I made one for my niece for a wedding present and she loved it and two years after she got married her husband wrote me the sweetest note, thanking me for the cookbook as she hadn't been much of a cook when he met her!
Or you can entertain Teddy?

What a lovely send-off for them. What do the kids do until fall without you feeding them?
What a great sendoff you gave them!

What a great idea for end of year. You deserve a bit of a rest, the kids will be talking about you all summer! You now have time for gardening, if it every warms up a bit her in RI me too.

I have little ones... I never know what to make them because they are super fussy eaters! If you put together a children's book of recipes, OH MAN! I'd buy it! I love your ideas. They're original, fresh and always make everyone who sees your pictures hungry!
Although you deserve a restful vacation. Take care of you for a bit. :)

Good food and pretty pinatas were the perfect sendoff for the kids and you. All that time on your hands will be interesting to have, won't it?
