Asian Sandwiches

I made these for my kids yesterday. They loved them.

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 2 tablespoons diced cilantro
  • 2 green onions sliced thin
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Mix this all together, form them into patties and pan fry them in a bit of oil.

Steam some Asian buns.  You can find these in the freezer section of any Asian store.

When the patties are cooked, drain them on paper towels.

I made an Asian pickle to go on the sandwiches.  Spread the buns with wasabi mayonnaise and add fresh pea shoots.  Top with some of the pickles.

Asian Pickles:

  • 2 medium carrots, julienned
  • julienned cucumber
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
Place the salt, sugar, vinegar and oil in a jar and shake until the sugar dissolves.  Add the vegetables and refrigerate for an hour before using.
