RIP Leonard Cohen

RIP Leonard.  You will never know how much time I spent with you.  The Blog Tech and I are your biggest fans.  Thank you for your wonderful talents.  One day I will meet up with you in The Tower of Song.

Yesterday I made the after school kids lots of banana pudding.

Of course, they polished it all off.

I also made them sloppy joe pasta.  I just sort of made it up as I went along.  I sauteed onions and garlic and green peppers with salt and pepper and Italian seasoning.

Then I added ground beef and browned it and drained the fat. And corn!

Next, I added crushed tomatoes, 1/4 cup of brown sugar, a few teaspoons of yellow mustard, 3 T. of apple cider vinegar, some ketchup, some chili powder and a bit of worcestershire sauce.
I also sneaked in some chopped kale.

Lastly, I added cooked penne.  All the flavor of sloppy joes and none of the mess.  And some good healthy vegetables too.

How I envy those kids, Banana pudding!!! I just love it :-) Sloppy joe isn't that bad either :-)

Leonard Cohen was quite popular here too and we do hear him every now and again on the radio.

Have a great day!

Christer.

NO! I was not ready to lose Leonard Cohen! It's too much to happen on this week of all weeks. My entire adolescence revolved around him. Oy. Thank you for posting all this comfort food. Even the thought of it makes me feel a little better.

Leonard is The Man. I loved him since my university days. There was no cure for love. He will be missed, that gravelly voice and his brilliant words. I'm so proud that he was ours. Closing Time. RIP Leonard.

I was really sad to read the news about Leonard Cohen this morning :-(
Dance Me is the very first song I can consciously remember from my childhood... My parents used to listen to the album all the time when I was growing up, and the love for his songs has stayed with me. Strangely, I have been listening to his songs a lot more recently!

I have just written my own homage to Leonard Cohen. He was a fellow Montrealer. His songs were so powerful, and so very prophetic.
