I had a Slovak friend coming over yesterday so I made him some Slovak food. These are such good dinner rolls and are also good eaten for breakfast with jam or honey. |
Remember, this is a doubled recipe so it will look larger than if you make a single recipe. Remove the dough to your counter.
Split it in 2 pieces.
Roll each ball into a large circle about 1/8 inch thick. Brush it with melted butter.
Cut it into 4 pieces.
Then 8.
It's much easier to brush it with butter in the step where I mentioned it above. I forgot and had to brush this circle after I cut it.
Pull and spread the long end a bit.
Fold the corners on the long end in. |
Brush with more butter, place them on a parchment covered cookie sheet seam side down, cover them and let them rise until doubled. Bake them at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
Brush them with butter once again as soon as you take them out of the oven.
Let them cool on racks. These freeze very well.
I made him a big pot of halushki to eat with the rolls.
