I Killed Phil

Yep, I killed Phil and cooked him for the kids.
I served him with a really tasty beef gravy.

It wasn't really Phil but rather a 10 pound meatloaf.

A couple of the kids screamed when they lifted the lid off of the roaster.  Click for a closer look.

The biggest challenge was how to lift this beast without breaking him.

I finally let him cool and then lifted him with my hands and laid him on the snow (mashed potatoes)!  I broke his leg but that was okay because he was already dead.  He didn't feel a thing.

You are a hoot! Frankly, your kind of groundhog is my favorite kind. The dead, meatloafy type.... I loved that the kids screamed. That will make for some interesting conversations over the weekend.... :)

P.S. What did you use for his teeth?

the teeth are just slices of raw onion. the claws are pecans and the eyes are black olives.the whiskers are toothpicks.

Phil deserved it. And made these kids happy.
Six more weeks of winter for us while Phil stays warm in the oven. He deserved his fate.

Yep...I say it again..those kids will remember this time in their lives..and tell the story to others and to their kids one day, and say.."Honest to God, for a minute I thought it was a dead animal!!"
