No More Food or Anything for the After School Kids

A representative for Mr. Tangerine Man said that there is no proof that these after school programs help the kids and they can no longer use our tax dollars to support them.  Well bad dude, I see how these programs help these kids every single day.  You just took away the one bit of hope that these kids have, not to mention the food that I myself feed them.  You just took away their safe place.  Their place of nourishment (not just from the food) will no longer exist.  But then, how would you know?  You've never set foot in one of these places and OMG...there are no white faces.  Make sure to build the TRUMP wall which we need so desperately.  Maybe you can paint it gold.  You are a giant, moronic piece of shit.

My sentiments exactly. What we are spending on keeping his wife in New York and his golf weekends would fund those and many other programs.

Thank you for helping these young people--Blessings on you

My wife and I help support a back pack program at our local school. One child waits all week just to taste a pudding cup that goes home in his pack. So many people just do not get it. God help us!

Perhaps the WH should receive a running tape of your blog entries this
past year to indicate just what good this program does and what it means to remove it... if the WH won't go to you.... go to them....

He's making America great again, all right. A great big freaking mess - where the 1% has everything and the 99% have even less than they did. We have, indeed, entered a dark age. Is it too early to impeach the SOB and boot the Forces of Evil out of the WH? Never mind God help us. We have to help ourselves.

I feel the same way as I too see what the after school programs have done both at the elementary and high school level. But, as you say, rich kids don't need this so why should we have them. I wonder how his supporters will justify this? They keep saying he's doing a good job. I'm guessing they hate poor people, too.

I so agree with you, he is all that and more. Defunding and slashing everything that truly makes us great. Our compassion and caring for children ,elderly and foreign support for other countries. Stop spending nearly 3 million it cost for his weekend trips to Fl that could fund after school programs. As you know these programs give children a safe place and 'the return' is maybe teaching children about caring that they can pass on.

Why don't you tell us what you really think? (spoken ironically). You are certainly not alone in your sentiments He is a damn fool, and a dishonest one. Willful ignorance is a profound betrayal of both intellect and our obligations to one another. Re-casting the neediest among us as greedy villains taking things away from our poor taxpayers (even children and the elderly, it seems) is a low, but not a new one. Ugh.

It's so sad that we can't do anything but call our congressmen and senators and complain. It's all falling on deaf ears until you say they won't be elected to another term in office. I think that's why some republicans are crossing party lines to vote no on these bills. Wish they would grow a pair and impeach that POS, but all of them are nothing but eunuchs.
My best friend is a teacher and a lot of her Middle school kids are below the poverty line. They rely on programs just to be able to have some food, when a lot of the time they don't have food at home.

So sad!

Christer.
There are NO words for me to even begin to describe my feeling toward this sub human. You know full well a good portion of how I feel.
You did a great job of putting your feeling into word.
I have two teachers in my immediate family..and their feelings match mine and yours.
Sending love to you!!!

I wouldn't give up so easily. There must be others in the community who could work together to find a location where a program can still happen with volunteers. Maybe start a local Meet Up group to find people who could help? Just a thought. When will matches the challenge, it can happen.

Fuck that asshole.
How could this be happening here? This is a nightmare that we don't seem to be able to wake up from. What is even worse is that we ever do get rid of him, Pence will take over, then it is Ryan. Horrible, horrible wankers, all of them.

Omg he's such a gigantic asshole. How did we get ourselves into this mess?!?! And to KNOW that what funds this program is PENNIES compared to what he prob spends
on a dinner out. What a callous, selfish, awful person!!!

I still remember the image you posted the day after he won. I feel that way every day. My only comfort is Twitter where I follow like minded people. I know intelligent educated people who still love him. I dont get it, except he hates Obama and so do they, he hates Muslims and so do they. He wants a freaking wall and so do they. And they get to keep their guns.

Politicians will have their same salary and healthcare forever! They have money for food! Kids, seniors, disabled will have nothing before he gets through! You expressed this so well.

First let me say I am a Canadian so what he does doesn't affect me as much as it does you. But looking South, it is very hard to believe what is happening! Such a GIANT step backwards for our dear neighbors..it will take years after he's gone to right his wrongs. I am so thankful for our free medical that we have had since 1949, our relatively sane government and our outstretched arms to the refugees of the world. You have my sympathies.

I have followed your blog for almost 6 years and so enjoyed all of your postings. I was sad to see your post today. You see, I live in Illinois, a "Flyover" State I'm sure you've probably never visited. I am one of "those horrid, ignorant, stupid, uneducated, racist, anti-semitic, LGBT hating people who "clings to their guns and religion"" who voted for President Trump. But you see, you don't know me at all! Because you never tried to know me. One of my very best friends is gay and lives happily in a gay relationship...One of my closest relatives is happily in an inter-racial marriage with a precious multiracial child... But you don't wish to know me, a person who wants America to be safe, secure, strong, and full of opportunity for all who come here "legally" and live according to the Laws of our Constitution and country. Also, you don't seem to see the HUGE debt that our last 6 Presidents and paid politicians have placed on you, myself and our children....You don't seem to see how each State would be more able to manage programs such as yours through cutting other programs of free education, food stamps, etc to "Illegals" that drain our State and Federal Budgets Why is it okay for some who come here to do so "illegally" when so many have come here "legally" and made our country great..What does this say to those folks who worked hard to come following our laws? And how can we call ourselves free without having those laws? ....I admire all of your work and time given to these inner city children...But I ask you...Would you give some time to work in those areas to teach women how to be good mothers, teach men how to be responsible fathers..work in your local government to bring prosperous economy, new businesses, jobs, to those people....Then programs like yours would not be so needed. Families could be reestablished to work together to grow for a better life. I'm doubtful you will really understand what I'm trying to say......I understand how different many of us are......You live through "feelings"....I live through "reality" and looking at the very long term for my child..I want America to stay a free country with Laws that keep us free.....Don't worry...I won't bother you again...And I won't be reading your blog daily anymore...I just have a hard time with the way you spoke about our President...If I had spoken that way about President Obama, I would have been called a "hate monger and a racist"...But life, sadly, is full of double standards.............................

This comment is for Linney62.......
Get your head out of the sand and...you should be SO ASHAMED OF YOURSELF!!
What you have shown here was your ignorance of how your country really is for so many millions of people. How you choose to see things is with those rose-tinted glasses that so many of you conservatives again choose to wear.

If you do not see the damage that your present president is doing to your country then you are in for a huge surprise in the very near future.
I feel sorry for you.
I am at a loss for words after reading Lynney62.. I want to understand how some dear people that are really good and well meaning, can support a bullshitter like Donald Trump. It is beyond me and I really do want to understand. But then I am old enough for Hitler to be still fresh enough in my mind and I would say "America take warning!" The parallels are amazing! This is the first time since WWII that I have been this scared. "There are none so blind as those that will not see!" And the problem is...even a deeply good person like Joyce doesn't get through to them. Years and years of trying to give back and share her good fortune and she is STILL not even close to being understood. Heartbreaking!!! AND frightening!!

I firmly believe your meals and these after school programs do make a difference in these kids lives. I hope someone in Congress will come to your aid to help keep these programs in place. Some kids are hanging on by a thread out there. We need to HELP them, not HURT them.

Guess I got my question answered: how will his supporters justify this?

Lynney 62 wrote that retort. I am glad she did so. I don't agree with her thinking, but I am glad to hear what she is thinking. We don't have to agree to listen to each other. I just hope she listens to those of us who know how important it is to take care of others. I'm assuming Lynney 62 has never been poor, never been in need, and lives a really good life surrounded by those like her.

When you know immigrants, legal and illegal, when you know poor people, when you see small children suffering, you have a a different view. Like many of us who are doing what we can in our communities to alleviate pain and suffering, I hope Linney 62 will do likewise. So many people need help. We should all be willing to help others.

I am glad I am not the only one that shares your sentiments. A few years ago I moved back to Illinois to do work in victim and child advocacy. I work in mostly small farming communities. My clients come from low income homes. Bless all the volunteers that give their time and resources to help children, the disabled, and the elderly. I am also grateful for all the government funded programs that help my clients. I have seen programs reduced or terminated due to funding. I can't see how any human being wouldn't feel compelled to help others in need, especially children that need help.
