Welcome Winifred

We picked Winnie up on Saturday morning and never looked back.   What a cutie!

Chows are born with a black muzzle and are fawny colored but will lose the black muzzle as they grow.
Her true colors will slowly emerge as the fawn color fades.
My husband was putting together a stuffed animals that has a heartbeat.  She slept right on top of it all night.  She is 9 weeks old and sleeps straight through the night for 10 hours.  In typical chow fashion, she has had no accidents in the house and goes as far back in the yard as possible to pee.  She hasn't even poohed in the yard yet but waits until she goes on a walk  to do so.

Unlike my other chows, she is a very dainty eater.  I haven't cooked for her yet so we will see if her appetite improves when I do.

She went a bit crazy over the tassels on my rug so we bought her a tassel toy which she now loves.

Notice the specks on the carpet?  She carries pieces of kibble around, drops them and then attacks them.  She likes to play with her food.
My usually spotless TV room has turned into a playpen.  We are taking her to cut down her first Xmas tree today.  Oh, and most importantly....she is the friendliest puppy I've ever seen.  She expects every single human she encounters to stop in their tracks and fuss over her.  And she loves little kids too. Thus begins the journey of Winnie.  She is the cousin to Martha Stewart's Empress Qin! Their mother's are sisters.

I love chows. I know they are usually a one person dog (or so they say) but I think when they are raised with lots of family and people loving on them they are GREAT family dogs. I love that baby face she has...they always remind me of teddy bears for some reason! I am envious...at least for the moment...lol xo Diana

OMG! A royal baby in the house. She's a cutie pie. She even eats like royalty. That little fuzzy face in the second picture makes me want to drive up there and just hug her. I hope you took pictures of her first outing to get the tree. Damn, she's so cute!!!

So sweet - and how lovely of her to sleep through the night! Any pups I had did that only after being plunked in bed with one of the children. May she bring you many, many years of joy.
