The Biggest Day of the Year

I'm sure everyone knows this but just in case you forgot, yesterday was the biggest day of the year.  Yes, yesterday was The Blog Tech's birthday.  I wasn't planning on much because of 'Willie sitting' but his sister made other plans.  The Blog Tech's favorite treat is a burger called the Galley Boy from a place called Swenson's.

The closest Swenson's is over 2 hours away.  I got my husband to agree to watch the pups and I told my daughter we would make a precision strike and drive straight there and straight back.  The best part of all of this is that she found a woman that lives by Swenson's that makes Galley Boy pierogies.  She ordered several dozen of them and told the woman we would meet her at Swenson's to pick them up.  At the crack of dawn we set off.  We arrived at Swenson's just as they opened and ordered a dozen Galley Boys.  The woman arrived and we exchanged money for perogies in the parking lot.  The burgers were delivered to the car and we were back on the road.  In less than 5 hours, The Blog Tech's birthday was full on.

When we returned, his father delivered the goods along with his other presents.  His wife was out of town on business but The Blog Tech had a little party with his dog,  Ziggy.

Ziggy was very excited, that is his excited look.

His new favorite treat is a Galley Boy.

But The Blog tech is the biggest fan of them.

His sister made him a pumpkin pie birthday cake.  It was topped with a lattice pie crust.

It was a pumpkin cake frosted with a spiced buttercream frosting and edible Fall leaves.

It had pie crust cookie leaves running along the side.

Ziggy was a huge fan of the cake and got some of it too.  The Blog Tech had a wonderful birthday and now he has a freezer full of Galley Boys to eat whenever he wants one.  And his wife surprised him with plane tickets for 2 weeks in London over New Years.  A nice break between law school semesters. On a side note, when My Daughter and I saw this photo, we noticed that the cake looked like The Leaning Tower of Pisa.  It did not leave here looking like that.  Her father swears he has no idea what happened.

What a wonderful surprise for The Blog Tech. Did you fell like you were doing a “drug deal” passing money in the parking lot? Hahahaha

That's one of the best birthday surprises I've heard off :-) Not bad going to London either, I've always wanted to go that but the closest I've come are to the airports close to it :-)

Have a great day!

Happy birthday Blog Tech. What a nice thing your mom and sister did for you. We've all seen your mom's cooking on here and have absolutely no doubt she could've replicated those burgers and pierogies. That cake looks amazing and sounds amazing. Ziggy's expression. LOL
