In my GED classes I had a man whose mother told him all the needed was a good woman and the Bible/God. Of course, she did not have a hs education either.
I promoted reading more to increase reading comprehension and vocabulary. One woman assured she read every day. She went on to say that she read her Bible morning and night. Why, no, I don't read anything else.

Both these two people dropped out of GED.
