Winnie Update

This is an old pic of Winnie and yes, that is the leg she just had surgery on. We tease that it is her Angelina Jolie leg because she is always showing it off.  We are into our 3rd week of rehab and things are going well.  The first week was a nightmare.  The vet prescribed trazodone to keep her calm and it did not work the way it was supposed to!  It had the exact opposite effect on her and made her extremely nervous and unsettled.  It took us 4 days to figure out what was causing this and none of us got any sleep.  It took the rest of that week to get it out of her system and we spent many nights with her pacing. Once we got the meds straightened out, things calmed down considerably. Getting her to take all of her pills was another adventure.  She is off of all meds now and we are all relieved.  The current problem is that she is feeling too good.  She is ready to resume all of her old activities but is far from doing any of them.  She has two more weeks of doing nothing other than laying around and  going out with the help of a sling to pee and poop.  She goes in for an x-ray on April 2nd and if things look good, she can start walking for 1 block and back.  This lasts for another month.  Willie remembers going through this 2 years ago and he barely leaves her side.  He also loves to sleep so it works out for him. I am doing a lot of TV watching and reading.

Oh my! Yep, even with humans, some meds meant to calm or help sleep do the opposite. Be sure and list that evil med as an "allergy" on her legband. Love the Angelina pose. But they're both SOOOO cute. Hang in there! Linda in Kansas
I hope the worst is behind you now.
