Bronze witch corkscrews


This is a line done by Royal Doulton and designed by Charles Noke. Above is an example of his Pied Piper series...a demitasse cup and saucer.

A small vase from his witch series...


A creamer from the witch series showing a crooked old witch bent over in front of her cauldron which is in her oven. You can see the smoke rising out of the cauldron. If you enlarge this pic and look closely you can see the old woman's black cat just behind her and peering straight at you!


This is the creamer and it shows an old witch walking through the woods with a full moon behind her.



This is a jug with a wizard on it. If you look closely you will see he is holding a potion bottle to add to the burning cauldron.

Blooming Baptisia Australis (False Indigo)...


Katsura (Cercidiphyllum Japonicium)...these trees give off the scent of caramelized sugar or cotton candy once or twice each day.

Your things are sooo cool! I love the door to the forest and my fav has to be the antique gargoyle light. I love gargoyles of all kinds! Very neat!

Your witch collection is so amazing! Do you have parameters about what you will collect and won't collect? I know many collectors do, so that their collection will be focused and not be just a big amorphous bunch of stuff that happens to have a similar theme. I'd love to hear about your collection parameters and how you've found some of your favourite things!

i suppose my only parameter would be authenticity. i look for objects that are serious and not frivolous. i buy items that have a history and show witches in a more serious light than just halloween. witches are a part of every culture and each culture recognizes them in different ways. they also had an important role during victorian times which is my favorite time period so i look for pieces from that era. i started out collecting salem witch items. they were mostly made by daniel lowe who owned a jewelry store in salem in the late 1800's. that is around the time that spoon collecting became very popular for the first time. he created the first salem witch spoon which became very popular and led him to produce many items out of sterling silver. he made all sorts of utensils, cufflinks, pins, card cases, etc.. i will be sure to post some of that soon. one day i came upon a piece of the royal doulton witches on ebay and i was hooked. hundreds of pieces later here i am. i hope that answers some of your questions. i will try to answer any more you might have.

Your garden is fantastic! I love the pond and waterfall and everything! I have no idea how my katsura is just now. It was one of the plants that froze when we had heavy frost. I hope that it didn´t get to damaged. I have that fern too, but of course it frezed too. But that one will come back soon.

Wow, this is amazing! I could spend hours, no days...no MONTHS looking at your site and all of the treasures and photos. I am so glad you said hello. Looks like we should meet up in Salem, MA and treat ourselves to all it has to offer. Hmm, where else should we go? Chow Chows are such wonderful dogs, but the one I have pictured on my blog is a pug. I'll be back to look at your older posts, and new ones as they come along, as I have time. I would love to have a pond, and fish and all that GREEN in my yard. I am so jealous!!!

About the language I used in my blog, is Swahili, is the leading language in Africa in terms of number of speakers, by which more than 150 million speaks this language. Tanzania has largest number of speakers and is one of the official language, also Tanzania speaks the best Swahili as compared to the rest of the countries. By the way, I am Tanzanian.
