Pioneer Festival part 2

I found more festival pics to show you.  Here you can see 'goldenrod' boiling in a cauldron and will be used to dye fabric yellow.

 Hanging baskets made using gourds.

 Handmade bows and arrows.

 Entertainment in the woods.

An authentic teepee made from things found in the woods and outfitted with pelts from hunting.

 Yarn.

 Knitting.

 A wood worker.

I now own one of these spoon rests.

We bought a few things for The Chef.

This guy makes different types of wooden rakes that you might find in other countries.

This group will prepare a whole meal which would be a typical Sunday dinner during pioneer times.

All behind a 'cow high, pig low' fence.

 Spinning yarn.

 Basket making.

 All things leather.

Their famous sausage sandwich and ham and potato soup. This festival is also known for their pot pies and fried mush.  If The Blog Tech had been there, he would have bought the fried mush!

 The potager.

 It even has a scarecrow.

All the houses were decorated for Fall.

In this house you can learn how to dry corn and apples.

 This house teaches quilt making.

 Another group about to entertain.

This area provides period toys.  These kids are walking on stilts.

These men are creating split rail fencing.

A covered bridge over the creek.

We are off to another farm today and hoping to find more pumpkins!

We have a permanent farm here, once a real farm but now in city limits, that has displays of similar living conditions and crafts. I love the pictures! You certainly have lots of these farms/festivals.
A real old timey craft fair!

What a wonderful event, so much to see, preserving this history is wonderful, so many skills have been lost to us,
It would have been so fun to be able to walk around there! I would have bought one of those rakes because I never find mine when I need it :-)

Have a great day!

Christer.
That looks like an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.

I so love this season for all the festivals there are. Unfortunately, the weather cancelled out all those from the weekend and it looks like Florence will cancel out next week’s.

Is there a website that shows all of these festivals in your area? You always have so much fun I'm ready to kidnap a friend and drive cross country so I can go to them, too!
