A Halloween Party

I threw a Halloween party last night for my great niece and nephew.  The hit of the party was this baked brain.  I've made this for Halloween ever since my kids were small.  It's easy to make, it's not a real brain and it is delicious.  Not to mention it always grosses people out...until they taste it! The kids ran into the houses screaming....where is the brain???

You take a medium sized Brie and slice it in half.  Then you fill it with a mixture of sauteed red and green peppers, onion, garlic and pepperoni.  Place the other half on top of the mixture Brie side down and gently press it together.

Use puff pastry and wrap the brie in it.  Pinch the edges together.

Brush the top with a bit of water.  Puff pastry has a dusting of flour on it so the water creates a paste.

Cut strips of the puff paste and roll them to make them round and coil them over the Brie to create a brain.

Color egg yolks using food coloring.  I used red, green and black. Brush them across the coils.

Bake at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes. Cut into it and it oozes out all over the plate.

"Where's the brain?" LOL! Not a phrase you hear every day about dinner time!

I have made these Brie/pastry appetizers before (without the brain part) and put a spicy jalapeno jelly in the center instead. It is amazing!
