The Cookie Table

Two of my friends are getting married on Ground Hog Day this year and I offered to make them a cookie table for their reception.  They jumped on the offer.  It was very untimely that on New Year's Day I got the terrible head cold that has been going around.  It lasted two weeks.  I had a couple days reprieve and then came down with the stomach flu.  Which Goddess did I piss off?!  I have a little over a week to finish baking and I have every hope that illnesses are behind me at this point.  Except I guess I could always get leprosy, I hope I don't get leprosy.

I'm trying to make a lot of new recipes just to keep my interest level up.  These little confetti cups are one of them.  They are so cute and are filled with a rich buttercream frosting.

I made 4 recipes of my Empire Biscuits.  These are pretty, delicious and are always very popular.

 Vanilla bean Southern Tea cakes.

This was what I made yesterday.

The Blog Tech cut the glace'd cherries for me.  My daughter has been baking like crazy too until yesterday when she came down with the flu!  Arghhhhhh!!! I hope she recovers faster than I did.

So far, we have baked 805 cookies.  We are about half way there.

Deep breath, deep breath, I have 10 days to make this happen.

I had leftover frozen mincemeat from Xmas so I made some pie crusts and made regular and mini mincemeat tarts.  And I had the idea to frost them with a hard sauce frosting so they should be very good.

And here is a peek at what I have been squeezing in between tea and broth sipping, bathroom trips and all the other wonderful things that go with being sick....Phil in the making!  I am making the wedding cake too and it needs a ground hog.  So, I'm making a papier mache' Phil to go in the middle.  I hadn't even thought of paper mache' in years so it's been fun returning to play with one of my favorite mediums.  I'll give you Phil updates as he develops.  The clock is ticking....I'm off to bake!

LOVE Phil! Only halfway through? How many people are coming to this wedding?!?!? Be careful you don't bake your way into a relapse. Can't wait to see the finished cake!

You are amazing, all that baking. My neighbor makes mincemeat tarts for me every Christmas. Really the best part of Christmas for me. I hope all your "ills" are past for this winter.
