My Daughter and I went out exploring Amish country north of us yesterday. We found a very cute market in a small college town and they were selling Amish doughnuts. I don't like doughnuts but everyone else around here does and they all say these are the best doughnuts you can eat. They are larger than your hand too. We brought some home for my husband.
During the winter months, I am a tea drinker and I drink mine with milk and honey. I enjoy buying local honey and trying different flavors. We are surrounded by apiaries so there is always a new variety to try.Apiaries such as this are also called bee yards.
Though it was about a billion degrees, we still had a fun time.

I always grow my own celery. Store bought celery pales in comparison to homegrown. However, you rarely find it for sale. It looks so different from what most people think celery should look like and the flavor is much more intense. I was surprised to see some for sale.
You never know what you might see when you go to these markets but I was delighted to come across this vintage Plymouth!
This might have been the original hatchback. I wish I knew the year and model. I'm guessing it was from the early 1960's. |
This market is held in a very cute building.
The planters surrounding the building were planted with flowers, herbs and tomatoes.
This building was so interesting. The pic is awful but the wood actually has faces carved in it.

I wish we had farmer's markets like you folks have ... Good selection and prices!
