Cut Out Cookies

Here is one last cookie recipe for this season. I saved the best for last. Cut out cookies.

***The winner of the Christmas giveaway basket is: Deborah@cranberry samplings. Please send me your info and I will ship it right out.

The recipe:

1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup granulated sugar
2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 large egg
2 tablespoons brandy
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Cream the butter and sugar, add the dry ingredients. Beat until combined. Add the egg, brandy and vanilla and beat until well mixed. Shape into a flattened round, wrap and refrigerate at least 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll out and cut into shapes. Place on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes and cool on racks. Mix confectioners sugar with milk to make a smooth spreading icing. Frost and decorate.

The brandy in this cooky adds a wonderful flavor but does not taste at all like alcohol.

This is my most favorite cookie. But maybe I've said this before.

The flavor improves after these sit for a few days.

I always double this recipe.

Make these when you have time to spare.

It takes quite a bit of time to frost all of them.

Happy Boxing Day to all!!!

everything you make looks so delicious :)
And Happy Boxing day to you as well.... brilliant recipe, love the brandy addition, I think I shall break out my mixer today.
I hope Boxing Day is your day of rest! You do rest at least one day a year, don't you?

I love cookies like this, many found memories of decorating them as a child. your cookies...what a treat....

we are lazy today...teddy and i just sitting by the fire...
Like I need to be baking more cookies! My box is getting a little low however. I'm going to whip up a batch of these and bake them in the morning.

The only place to be on Boxing Day is the grocery. No one there but me and the stock boys.

AFter baking and cooking my heart out I am sick of baking so this will wait until I can stand to be in the kitchen again...and the scale begins to drop back to a respectable number...but this recipe sounds right up my alley so I will definitely be giving it a go, thanks!

Sounds wonderful! Just wonderful!
Thanks, Joyce!
This is the most beautiful cookie dough to work with after it has chilled.

Yep! I've already had one before I even put the frosting on. Wonderful!

Jaz...I made these yesterday and they are sooo good! I did change up the Brandy and substitued the juice of one tangerine for it and it has such a lovely flavor in the cookie. I'll definitely be making these again.
Thanks so much and Merry Christmas!
