A New Giveaway and a New Bread Recipe

The winner of last week's giveaway is: Fairie Moon Creations! I will ship it out on Monday!

This week's giveaway is for a basket of international treats. Lots of Italian goodies like amaretto biscuits, nougats, Italian nut brittle. It includes a packet of French hot chocolate and some gourmet American candies. To enter, leave a comment on this post. If you are not already a follower, sign on to follow. The winner will be picked next Saturday!

December 11th! 14 more days until Christmas!

I made the sourdough no-knead bread again but did a different variation this time. For the recipe go to my sidebar and click on no-knead sourdough bread recipe.

After it rises for several days it starts to look pretty scary.

This time I decided to try a cheddar/jalapeno loaf. I don't like things which are too spicy so I used these jalapenos. If you have never tried this product I highly recommend that you do. As you can see on the label these peppers are 'tamed'. They are pickled too and have a great flavor. They are wonderful served on a cheese tray.

For the last rising I added cubes of cheddar. I used a mild cheddar.

I drained the peppers then chopped them.

And added them to the bowl.

I added an additional 1/4 cup of flour.

I let it rise in two bowls since I doubled the recipe for a large loaf.

The bowl is preheated until the oven reaches 450 degrees, then it is sprayed with cooking spray and the dough is dumped into it. It is covered and placed back in the oven.

After 45 minutes the cover is removed and the bread is rolled out onto a pizza stone or oven rack.

The bread bakes another 30 minutes and then is placed on a wire rack to cool.

This would be a really good bread to serve with the chili recipe I posted recently.

Yummers! I wanted to do a bread with a hot meal on Xmas Eve and wanted to add something southwestern but I'm sick of chili cheese cornbread. Yahoo! Thanks for the recipe.

Hi Joyce,
I come here but I do not comment. I'm hungry and I will raid the refrigerator :)
But I like to spend here at the risk of gaining weight.
Kisses for you and for Teddy

Hmmm I am not a jalapano fan but the bread does look yummy. As for the gift basket...oh wow! I don't know how you can afford to do this so often but it is very kind of you. Thanks

The fabulous recipes just keep on coming to us, from you.

Thank you.

I will give this a whirl when I make chili tomorrow. It is supposed to rain and turn cold, well, cold for us Florida people.

xoxo to "Teddy Christmas Fluffs".
OOh I like the basket the giveaway is in...

See I think jalapano in cheese sour dough bred would be awesome. I'm a huge spicy heat eater. :)

Ok, I'll try the "tamed" jalapenos, I love them for the description alone.

I can't keep up with you!

First of all, congratulations to Fairie Moon Creations!

I like to experiment when baking or cooking food, but I would never even have been thinking of putting jalapeno in a bread :-) But why not! I do like jalapenos so this I must try one day!

Have a great day now!
Christer.

That sourdough bubbling away makes baking look like the magic it is!

But I must politely decline the conceptual offer of canned heatless jalapenos! Canned jalapenos are such sad things anyway, next to their snappy, crisp, fresh cousins- you should try growing some some time, it's really very easy!

That gift basket looks much more appealing than canned peppers! But nowhere near as nice as homemade sourdough, I suspect..! Still, count me in!:D

Oooh ....I have to make this bread! It looks delicious (well, all except for the scary dough part LOL)
There are no words to describe this Sour Dough Bread. I can not keep it made fast enough. You will come up with so many flavor combinations on your own you will amaze yourself. In 1 hour I will be stirring something into my 6th loaf. I just can't decide. The cheddar jalepano is wonderful. Maybe I'll just make one with rosemary only. Too many choices!

I thought your first sourdough bread looked delish but this one even better. Never knew about the tames peppers. Will have to try them if I can find them in Canada.
Haven't done [even 'quick'] real bread in ages. But I love the look of it, when it gets scary looking. -giggles-

It's been so long, I probably forgot the correct term, but I think... With one of those "Forever" Friendship Breads, the can-get-scary part is called "the Mother."

Gentle Winter hugs...

How wonderful that you enjoyed living in Canada. Makes me proud, for some silly reason. We lived in Mississauga for 3 years in our first house 1995-8. The labyrinth has only been there for a few years, I think. They are popping up everywhere it seems!

yep would like to be in on the give away drawing :O)... Italian goodies, my Italian DH would love that and me too!

Oh, I am delighted that Theresa won the goodies!!! Do you remember me rooting for her last week? And now I see that she actually won -- that's SO cool! :) :) :) In fact, it feels as if I had won, too. :) Theresa is such a sweet person (just like you!), so it's wonderful to see that she gets some treats from you. :)

Well, I guess the new treats would also cost a fortune to be sent to Germany, so this week I would like to raise the odds of someone else again. If my name comes up, could you please send the goodies to Carapace? I had won a prize from her during the One World One Heart event, and she made something special for me, so she certainly deserves a few treats herself.

By the way, I just had a look at all your recent posts and I am so impressed with everything. I am lacking time to comment on everything, but please rest assured that each and every post is appreciated. And -- your Christmas tree is a dream. I love it, love it, love it. Thanks for decorating such a beautiful tree and for showing it on your blog. Thanks also for all the recipes and yummy food photos and for your generosity in general.

Hugs,
Birgit
