December 11th! 14 more days until Christmas!
I made the sourdough no-knead bread again but did a different variation this time. For the recipe go to my sidebar and click on no-knead sourdough bread recipe.
After it rises for several days it starts to look pretty scary.
This time I decided to try a cheddar/jalapeno loaf. I don't like things which are too spicy so I used these jalapenos. If you have never tried this product I highly recommend that you do. As you can see on the label these peppers are 'tamed'. They are pickled too and have a great flavor. They are wonderful served on a cheese tray.
For the last rising I added cubes of cheddar. I used a mild cheddar.
I drained the peppers then chopped them.
And added them to the bowl.
I added an additional 1/4 cup of flour.
I let it rise in two bowls since I doubled the recipe for a large loaf.
The bowl is preheated until the oven reaches 450 degrees, then it is sprayed with cooking spray and the dough is dumped into it. It is covered and placed back in the oven.
After 45 minutes the cover is removed and the bread is rolled out onto a pizza stone or oven rack.
The bread bakes another 30 minutes and then is placed on a wire rack to cool.
This would be a really good bread to serve with the chili recipe I posted recently.

And what a cute giveaway! I'll be crossing my fingers.

I come here but I do not comment. I'm hungry and I will raid the refrigerator :)
But I like to spend here at the risk of gaining weight.
Kisses for you and for Teddy

Thank you.
I will give this a whirl when I make chili tomorrow. It is supposed to rain and turn cold, well, cold for us Florida people.
xoxo to "Teddy Christmas Fluffs".
See I think jalapano in cheese sour dough bred would be awesome. I'm a huge spicy heat eater. :)
I can't keep up with you!

I like to experiment when baking or cooking food, but I would never even have been thinking of putting jalapeno in a bread :-) But why not! I do like jalapenos so this I must try one day!
Have a great day now!
Christer.
But I must politely decline the conceptual offer of canned heatless jalapenos! Canned jalapenos are such sad things anyway, next to their snappy, crisp, fresh cousins- you should try growing some some time, it's really very easy!
That gift basket looks much more appealing than canned peppers! But nowhere near as nice as homemade sourdough, I suspect..! Still, count me in!:D

I never done the starter thing. I jist may give it ah try.
It does rather look like the blob!
heh
Cheddar jalapeno bread sounds soooooo good! I bet it would go great with that chili from the other day... ^-^

That is a cool basket!
This weeks giveaway looks awesome. (it brings back wonderful memories of the time I visited Italy.)
Blessings to y'all
It's been so long, I probably forgot the correct term, but I think... With one of those "Forever" Friendship Breads, the can-get-scary part is called "the Mother."
Gentle Winter hugs...
I love sourdough bread. Your recipe sounds delicious. I admire your outstanding abilities in the kitchen.

The bread looks so good... cheese and jalepenos... how could it go wrong... I received an order recently with a bunch of goodies from Spain... simply wonderful... good luck to all ... (even me)
Please enter me in the contest.
I also like the pics of your advent house. It's so neat.
Thanks for the chance.
Well, I guess the new treats would also cost a fortune to be sent to Germany, so this week I would like to raise the odds of someone else again. If my name comes up, could you please send the goodies to Carapace? I had won a prize from her during the One World One Heart event, and she made something special for me, so she certainly deserves a few treats herself.
By the way, I just had a look at all your recent posts and I am so impressed with everything. I am lacking time to comment on everything, but please rest assured that each and every post is appreciated. And -- your Christmas tree is a dream. I love it, love it, love it. Thanks for decorating such a beautiful tree and for showing it on your blog. Thanks also for all the recipes and yummy food photos and for your generosity in general.
Hugs,
Birgit
