Chex Mix Recipe

Well, my daughter has another event at her museum this week, so I am cooking for 100 again. Since it is Fall, I thought Chex mix would be good to serve. This stuff is addictive.

This is my cast of characters. If you are a normal cook, you might want to make a fraction of this. Though it does last a long time stored in zip lock bags.

See what I mean? You might want to just use 1/5 of this recipe.

I will give you the single recipe measurements. To two sticks of butter. add 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce.

I use Gator Hammock hot sauce but you can use whatever kind you like best. Add it to taste, depending on how hot you want this. If you use a teaspoon it won't be too spicy.

You can leave it out entirely if you want to.

I also add Red Hot. I like the flavor and it isn't too spicy.

And now they make it thick too!

Add a tablespoon of celery salt.

Add 1 tablespoon of granulated garlic and 1 of onion. Add some salt and pepper. Mix it all together. You can dip a pretzel in to taste test.

I use Bugles, cashews, potato sticks, pretzel sticks, bagel chips, rice Chex and corn Chex and fried onions. I also used those square pretzels this time which were very good in the mix. Oh, and Fritos too!

See that tray on the bottom? Not a good idea. It burned.

I made 8 trays of this. It bakes for a couple hours in a 300 degree oven. I turn it over occasionally with a flipper.

Make sure it is totally cool before packing it away.

I also made her a few wreathes for the party.

I covered a straw wreath with moss.

Then I glued gourds all over it. I need a bow but I don't have the right ribbon yet.

Then I made a sunflower one too. Lots more cooking to do over the next few days!

Cooking for 100. WOW. Never made Chex Mix before, though I've eaten some. Yours looks very good. Sure everyone will enjoy it. I bet that Gator Hammock Hot Sauce has a kick. LOVING the wreaths you created. Can't choose a favorite.
Love the wreaths! I'm glad I didn't see the chex mix before I went grocery shopping. Now I will have to make a special trip. I could have this for breakfast, right!
