Best Rugelach Recipe

I am up to my eyeballs in Christmas cookies and I am not halfway done.  I made the rugelach cookies this morning and forgot to take photos so these are from last year.

It is best to make the dough a day ahead of time and refrigerate it. You can find the recipe here:  http://octoberfarm.blogspot.com/2011/12/christmas-classic-and-rugelach-recipe.html

Roll the dough very thin then spread with you favorite jam.  I used apricot on this one.  Sprinkle ground walnuts over the jam and then cinnamon sugar over the nuts.

Roll up, tucking the sides in as you go.

Slice them into 1 inch slices, brush them with egg whites and sprinkle them with course sugar.  Refrigerate them for 30 minutes to firm them up.

I always make some with raspberry jam too.

After 30 minutes in the fridge, bake them at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes.

Let them cool on racks.

This is the best rugelach recipe I have ever used.  Store them in airtight tins.

These do look delicious and I love anything with cinnamon in them :-) Perhaps I should try these too but I can't make to many cookies because I would become huge :-) I don't stop eating cookies until there's none left :-) :-) :-)

Have a great day!
Christer.

I won't start until next week. I have to bake challah rolls and croissants for the food bank bake sale this weekend. I'll be up to my eyeballs in yeast dough.

Joyce, did you use a knitting board or loom when you made Christer's scarf??? I want to make one for my daughter and when I look at patterns for one that doesn't have a wrong and right side it suggests a board.

Impressive-looking cookies, very festive. I want to make every cookie you show us.
My daughter Mary is the cookie baker and since she takes orders and bakes..I just order all of mine from her..but...these look like something I must do! It's not the baking that gets me down..it's the clean up..(I do it as I go along to make it bearable and besides, I have a tiny kitchen.
p.s. MY TREE is finally done. Will take a photo of it tomorrow..if my darned camera will just co operate with me.
