Mincemeat Tarts

Yesterday was mincemeat tart making day! I made the mincemeat a while ago and let it age a bit.  You can find the recipe here:  http://octoberfarm.blogspot.com/2010/12/mincemeat-recipe-and-new-giveaway.html

I made a pate' brisee dough recipe for the crusts.  You roll out the dough and cut rounds and mold it into muffin tins.

I used my large round cutter to make the bottom crust.

Then I filled them with mincemeat.

I used a smaller round cutter for the tops.

They bake at 350 degrees for about 1/2 hour or until turning golden.

After they cooled,  I sprinkled them with powdered sugar.  When you are ready to eat them you warm them and top them with hard sauce.  Lots of people don't like mincemeat but I make mine with fresh oranges and lemons, diced apple and high quality ingredients so it is very yummy!  I also only use a bit of port in it so it isn't very boozy at all.

I really need to buy me one of those muffin tins! I may not bake especially many muffins but it's perfect to use when making one portion pies and other delicious things like these :-)

Have a great day!
Christer.

You have brought back a happy memory for me. I remember Mom making mincemeat pies for my Dad. He loved them.

I feel it only fair to tell you that my hubby is on his way to your door as I type. He LOVES mincemeat! He was walking past while I was reading your post, and the photos of all of those lovely little pies caught his eye. You might want to assign Teddy to patrol. . .
I adore mincemeat and so few people make it themselves anymore -- I'd love to sample these tarts! Oh, who am I kidding? I'd love to eat them ALL.

Your mincemeat tarts look delicious. I like mincemeat when made from fruit, not a big fan of the beef/venison version. My late mother in-law introduced me to hard sauce many years ago, simply perfect for topping off a warmed mince pie. What's cooking in the kitchen tomorrow? Will be checking in...
My husband likes Mincemeat, but I'm sure he would "be over the moon," about yours!!!!!!!!!!! :-))))

Now! Where is the snow?!?!?!?!
yummy, yummy! tis the season and love it - can't wait to try yours : ) wishing you a wonderful festive season, xx Ozlem
