This is such a good pound cake. It is dense and moist with a crunchy sugar shell. |
Heavily butter and flour a bundt pan.
Ingredients
Cake
- 1 cup butter, cubed at room temperature
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup buttermilk
Butter Glaze
- ⅓ cup butter
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
Remove the cake from the oven.
Poke the cake all over with a knife.
Ladle the sauce all over the cake.
Let it soak in before adding more sauce.
Let the cake cool completely before removing it from the pan.
Flip the cake out onto a plate.
This cake actually is better after sitting for a day.
