S'mores

I received a request for the ingredients to make s'mores.  First I made marshmallows.  You can find the recipe for these on my sidebar.

 Then I made graham crackers:

Ingredients
  • 2½ c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ c. (1 stick) butter
  • ⅓ c. honey
  • ¼ c. milk
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
Instructions
  1. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment combine flour, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Mix on low to incorporate.
  2. Add cold, cubed butter and mix on low until the mixture is the consistency of a coarse meal.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, milk, and vanilla extract. Add to the flour mixture and mix on low until the dough comes together.
  4. Divide in half and wrap in plastic. Chill until firm, about 2 hours in the fridge.
  5. Once chilled, turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and roll each dough sheet into a long rectangle about 15"x10" and ⅛" thick.
  6. TIP: roll out onto a Silpat or parchment paper so that transferring to the baking sheet will be easier.
  7. Using a knife or fluted pastry wheel, cut the dough rectangle into four columns and three rows.
  8. Poke holes into crackers using a fork or toothpick.
  9. Repeat with the second batch of dough.
  10. The crackers may not all be the same size just get them as close as you can.  I trimmed the rough edges off.
 11. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes.

Let them cool completely and then cut along the scored lines.  I forgot to take a final pic as usual but I tied the crackers in bundles with colored string and put the marshmallows in clear bags tied with the same string.  Then I placed them in a basket with good chocolate bars.  They were very cute.  You have to take my word for it.

 My roses are blooming.

I'm so happy because all of my 'new dawns' died a couple years ago and these are the replacement roses.

I really should try and make s'mores, it sounds and looks like something I would love :-)

The first roses will open up tomorrow here I think, they are half open as it is now. Much cooler here today and around 69-70F, so much easier to live :-)

Have a great day!

Christer.

I'd love some marshmallow dessert. And great pictures of your garden, as usual.
