And It Begins

Sorry, this is all I have for you today. COOKIES!  We are having a cookie and candy buffet at the wedding and I am the baker. I have to bake approximately 1500 cookies in 2 weeks.  And wouldn't you know it?  My mixer died in the beginning of my first batch yesterday.  It groaned, then sighed and died.  I think I heard it say...."I can't do this".  Traitor.

*to answer the comment below....it was a kitchenaid mixer, the big one!  It lasted 4 years.  This is the 9th kitchenaid motor I've burned out in 25 years.  They only last a lifetime if you use them like a normal person.

Oh No, I thought you had a KitchenAid mixer, they never die. I have been hoping mine would die, had it over 30+ years . I want a new color but no it won't die. Good luck.

Oh no, I hope it wasn't your fancy painted one!? Just loved that mixer of yours. My mixer is doing fine still but when it dies I'm getting one with a witch. ;-)

I am from youngstown so I know all about the cookie table. I baked for weeks for my sons wedding too. All I can say is it is a true labor of love. You are doing everything though! Wow. Painting chairs ,cooking making gift boxes ,cookies ,marshmallows etc. When do you sleep? I got up one morning at six and thought gee bet you already made sauce or pulled weeds! Lol. Oh and you still have time to blog! We are so happy. When is the wedding anyway. It will be beautiful.

I'm loving the wedding posts. It sounds like a Sri Lankan wedding. Everything home made!

I had to get the calculator out....1500 is 125 DOZEN. Sigh. You are a baking queen!!

OK I had to laugh about the mixer. We've been together 17 years now and I think 2nd Man is on his 4th mixer. I used to complain "how do you burn out something that's supposed to last a lifetime". But I just went with it. The first was a smaller one but the rest have been the bigger ones until his last. Now he's got the biggest KA makes, the 7 quart with the 1.3hp motor, they don't even sell it at most places, but wow it's held up like a workhorse. Fingers crossed.

That mixer is a traitor indeed. It knew about the wedding and backed out. SHAME! SHAME! on it. Hope a new one comes to your rescue.

Maybe you should just bite the bullet and get one of those ginormous Hobart mixers - I mean, really. 1500 cookies? And, knowing you, there will be many, many different kinds. The excitement is building!

Did you lay the baking list in plain sight of the mixer? Well, did you?!? You did, didn't you? It probably committed suicide after seeing your list. Woman, you of all people should know better than to let anything in your kitchen see what you are going to do. I know because it happened to me, twice. I showed my Kitchenaid mixer my baking list and a mess of recipes and it died before I could turn it on. Then the oven died that very same day when I put 2 loaves of strawberry bread into it. I sh&t you not! I had both replaced that weekend. But the point is, never, ever, show your Bewitched kitchen appliances your recipes or lists when you have a big baking or cooking job for them to handle. They don't like the extra work. Really, they don't.
