Salted Caramel Sauce

I'm still cooking for tomorrow's event and will show you the decadent dessert I am making when it's finished.  I made this caramel sauce to use as a topping.  This is some of the best caramel you can make and you can use it on all sorts of things.  A spoon comes to mind.
Boil 2 cups of sugar with 1/2 cup of water and 1 tsp. of corn syrup until it turns amber.

Stir in 12 T. of butter, 1 T. of sea salt, 1 T. vanilla extract and 1 C. of heavy cream.

Pour it into jars and hide it in your refrigerator. I made 2 recipes so some people around here won't pout when they see it go out the door.

Don't ask me how I know this (shhh!!) but another good use of the caramel sauce is as a dip for sliced apples. My kids love it as a dessert instead of a caramel apple because it's so much easier to eat.
