Welcoming Rolls

I hope you enjoyed The Blog Tech's posts. He and his wife sure had an interesting honeymoon.  He had a work related brunch yesterday and I made him some of these welcoming rolls to take. They are called this because they are always welcome no matter where you take them.  I've made these for years and years.  I like to take these to parties so the host has something to eat for breakfast the morning after.
1 C. sugar
1 C. shortening
2 tsp salt
2 C. water
2 large eggs
2-1/2 tsp. rapid rise yeast
6-7 C. flour
1/4 C. melted butter for brushing
Mix until you have a smooth dough.
Cover and let rise for at least an hour.

Split it in half and roll it into a 14X11 rectangle.

 Brush it with butter.

 Sprinkle it with cinnamon sugar.

 Roll it into a log.

Slice it and place the slices cut side down in a buttered pan.  Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle them with more cinnamon sugar.  Cover and let them rise.

Bake them at 375 degrees for about 25 minutes.

Mix confectioners sugar with milk and vanilla flavoring to make a glaze.

Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls.

You can come over and bring those. That's when the party will start :)

I've been told by my doctor that I can't read or even look at your blog anymore until I've lost 25 lbs. It seems I have Foodpornitis and I'm the only one in the world that suffers from it. It's when a person gains weight by just drooling over pictures of food. So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. HAHAHAHAAAHAHAhahahaaahahahahaaa!

They remind me of the brioches from the Pâtisserie Chicoutimi-Nord. You make me feel homesick.
