Double Chocolate Cake

I made this cake for a friend yesterday.
 I use dark cocoa powder to make this extra chocolately.

 I also brush each layer with simple syrup.

 And then a thin layer of raspberry jam to add depth of flavor.

 It's all topped off with a ganache frosting.

Isn't it funny . . . I am not a big chocolate lover either, except when it's cake. I love chocolate cake! You can have the candy bars and boxes of chocolate, just give me cake. This one looks and sounds amazing :)

I like your idea of brushing the layers with simple syrup to help keep them moist. Yum. You can't get too much of a good thing!

This chocolate cake reminds me of Practical Magic! Pick up "The Rules of Magic" if you haven't had a chance. It's a prequel to the Practical Magic book- many chocolate cakes made in the story!
