From now until February, I will be testing lots of cookie recipes for a cookie table I will be doing for friends that are getting married. These chocolate chip, date and walnut cookies are a new recipe I tried. I don't know whether these will make the final cut but they were a huge hit with my husband, The Blog tech and his wife. Here's the recipe if you want to give them a try:
2 & 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 & 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 & 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
1 cup chopped dates
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
* Cream the wet ingredients and then mix in the dry. Place large scoops (use an ice cream scooper) on parchment covered cookie sheets, leaving about 3 inches in between each one. Chill in the refrigerator for about 45 minutes. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 18-20 minutes, just until they begin to turn brown on the edges. Cool on the sheets for 10 minutes and then transfer to a rack to cool.

What an addition he is to our family. He is the sweetest little dude and he loves his big sister, Winnie. He has had a problem with his right eye since we got him just over 3 months ago. The vet will fix it when he is neutered later this week. Other than that, he is perfect.
