As my guest house basement project progresses, I find myself shopping in my own home for furniture rather than buying new things. I've lived in my house for over 30 years and by doing this, I am looking at things differently than I have in a long time. The big question I keep asking myself is, what can I live without? Building an unfitted kitchen means using my creativity to find storage solutions and that is why I added this piece.
This antique piece was in my art room for 25 years. This was one of the largest pieces of furniture in my house. Needless to say, when I moved it to the stonehouse, it left a gaping empty space in my room. So, I started looking around to find a replacement. That's when I thought about this Patina desk. I actually designed this piece many years ago and it took a year to have it made. It has been sitting in my bedroom ever since. And, I rarely use it.
It looked rather small sitting against my very large wall.
