Friday's trip was nothing short of gorgeous. We spent many hours driving up and down through the mountains with our mouths hanging open at just how glorious they were.
Newly cut fields, blue skies and a kaleidoscope of colors were never ending. |
Once again, we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful area. |
Many of these old farmhouses are right by the side of the road, as they were well over a hundred years ago. The houses were most often built close to the old lanes. The barns were farther away.
I could drive down roads like this endlessly.
Everyone you encounter is very friendly.
Watch out for the buggies.
We spotted a child walking to school. It sort of surprises me that the Amish allow their children to carry coolers as lunchboxes. This is a relatively new development.
It's blurry but even the children wave to you.
This is an Amish school.
Recess.
One of the farm stands we stopped at.
Hot chocolate and marshmallow pumpkins.
Yellow pumpkins.
It was wash day and everyone's wash was hanging out to dry.
I love how the utility poles look like a line of crosses by the very small graveyard.
More pics tomorrow.
