Rushing Halloween

I cheated, I saw these at the store yesterday and thought they looked close enough to pumpkins so I bought them and put them on the potting table. They will have to hold me over until the real thing is ready. I took a deep breath this morning and realized I better slow myself down and start enjoying every little bit of the coming season because it will be here and gone before you know it. The rest of the year seems to drag by and then Fall arrives and it is January 1st before you know it. In nine more days we will be 4 months away from Christmas. I can hardly think about it.

I pulled out a few vintage Halloween items this morning. Above you can see some of my cauldron collection. I assume the sterling cauldron on the tripod is a salt cellar but it has no liner so I am not sure I am right about that. I've never figured out what the other sterling piece was used for. It has a mirror on the base.

I found these witch cake toppers at a thrift store for 25 cents.

This scarecrow is from the 50's and was a thrift shop find.

As was this jack o 'lantern. It was 25 cents too.

I get so excited when I find old magazines in good shape. This one was preserved in plastic.

October magazines are really hard to find at a good price.

This cost 25 cents in 1939!

This is very old and fragile. I bought it last year and this year I intend to frame it. Great graphics!

This is new. I bought it in Maine last year.

It's like a Christmas calendar. You count down the days until Halloween!

This was hard to photograph but is a really great piece. It is from Hallmark and probably from the 60's.

It folds open and the witch and cauldron are right in the middle.

It has amazing detail.

This is an article from a vintage magazine probably from the 40's.

It shows how to set up a place setting Halloween game.

Sorry I couldn't get better pics.
