Happy Halloween 2013

 Teddywitch is ready!

So much tricking to do and so little time.

 One pumpkin carved so far.

I prepped the seeds and mixed them with a bit of oil and sea salt.

 Hello Jack.

Roasted at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes and ready to eat.

Does Teddy look like the queen of Halloween?

I think she is anticipating her treats.  Happy Halloween!!!

Halloween 2013

I will be carving these babies later today.  Hard to believe Halloween is tomorrow.  Since I start preparing for this on July 5th, I am almost ready to let it go.
I have my baked brain ready to cook.  It's a round of brie, cut in half and stuffed with sauteed onion, garlic and peppers, wrapped in puff pastry and painted with egg yolks dyed with food coloring.  It bakes at 400 degrees until it puffs.  Cut into it with a big knife and the 'brain' oozes out.  Serve it on crackers.

The witches are all ready to fly.

 Indian corn.

Lots of these decorations will last until Thanksgiving so it is not all over after tomorrow.

An antique porcelain candle snuffer for putting the lights out on the Jack O' Lanterns.

Does anyone have a pumpkin this big?

 I made pumpkin cinnamon buns.

And topped them with maple icing.

Teddy and I are enjoying the Fall gardens.

And the last of the leaves turning.

We have had a wonderful Fall this year.

Halloween is Almost Here

I don't know about you but I am still trying to squeeze in as much Halloween stuff as I can before it is over.  Like checking out neighbors decorations!

And enjoying my Halloween signs before they are packed away.

 Wearing Halloween jewelry.

 Eating pumpkin honey on toast.

Visiting the farm markets before they close for winter.

Making lots of things with apples.

Taking my pup for Fall walks.

 Making pumpkin donuts.

Making The Blog Tech do silly things.

 Again and again and....

Giving bloody bones to scary puppies (this is a very old photo).

 Making Halloween decorations.

Savoring every last moment!

Are You Ready For Halloween?

Are you doing anything special for Halloween?

I used to have huge parties but not anymore.

I actually like Fall more than Halloween.

I'm happy that Halloween has become so popular but I don't like much of the commercial part of it.

I like to decorate with Indian corn.

 And mums.

And I like when mother nature decorates for me.  This was our morning sky.

 A gift from a friend.

I do get my umbrella out to jump off the roof on All Hallows Eve.

This is the umbrella Sally Owens ( Sandra Bullock) used to jump off the Owen's roof in Practical Magic. The very one!

Another Fall Trip

We headed out early for another trip.  We were visiting another pumpkinfest.

You never know what you might find when you go to these things.  Some of them are wonderful, some not so much.

This was advertised to be quite a fair.  I guess we should have taken the size of the town into consideration.  What is big for one town is not necessarily big for another.  When we arrived, the fair consisted of about 5 tents and a very small town square.  We had driven about 3 hours to get to it.

I guess we could have gotten tattoos to make the trip worthwhile.

Then we found these guys and decided they alone were worth the drive.

What a cute family.  See the little baby in the back?

There is her little head peaking over her mama.

The dad looked at us as if to say...enough photos already!

The Blog Tech has an ugly witchy side to him.

The local high school band turned out to play.  One of the few vendors was selling vegetables at really great prices and we bought lots of local apples and apple cider too.  There was not a pumpkin to be found at this pumpkinfest.

The whole drive was up and down through the mountains. Spectacular views everywhere.

We stopped in a small town when we saw a sign for fresh apple fritters.  This car pulled in next to us.

 A 1937 Model A in pristine condition.

Look at the trunk on the back.  It's an actual trunk!

As we drove closer to home we spied this in front of us.

I just assumed they were on the way to my house to make a delivery.
