Polish Easter Food

 It is always lots of fun to shop in the local Polish and Russian stores the week before Easter.  They are well stocked with all sorts of good Easter food.  I went to the Polish store yesterday.

 Apricot and nut kolaczki.

 Good smoked Polish ham.

 Cabbage rolls and pastry rolls filled with meat and sauerkraut and mushrooms.

Good Polish salami.

And pierogies.  Ever church in this city has pierogi sales going on this week.  My favorites are potatoes and cheddar and mushroom and sauerkraut.  You can find almost every filling you can imagine.  Some are filled with cottage cheese.  Some are filled with prunes (lekvar).  I can even find potato and jalepeno!  These are almost always fried in butter with onions and served with sour cream.
