Sally Lunn Bread

I hadn't made this bread in years but I baked some for my kids a couple days ago.   This is an excellent bread recipe if you've never tried it before.  And guess what?  No kneading!  Here are the ingredients:

Ingredients

  • 1  package active dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, plus more for pan
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
I made two loaves so you will see pics for 2 recipes.  Follow the above recipe for one loaf.  Beat your eggs and set aside.

Prepare your bundt pans by buttering and flouring them.

Mix the yeast with the sugar and water and set it aside to froth for about 5 minutes.

Melt a stick of butter in your milk just until melted.

Mix all of the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and place the dough in a buttered bowl.  Cover with plastic and let it rise until doubled.

Poof.

Place the dough in your bundt pan.

Cover it with plastic and let it rise.

Second poof.  Bake it at 375 degrees for about 40 minutes.

If it starts to get too dark, cover it with foil.  Remove from the oven and turn it out on a cooling rack.

Serve it with good butter.
