Another Giveaway and a Hungry dog

I am half way home and still have so many pics of Salem to post. But I am pooped and want to spend more time than I have now when I post them. So I will give you some frivolous pics right now and post the others when I am home. BTW...I just loved what these people did with their house.

As I was driving all day I was thinking about the giveaway. I am so happy that Rue won it but I also feel so bad that all of the rest of you didn't. I have never done a giveaway because I am simply the biggest giveawayer there is. If I get started, someone is bound to get my kids or my dog in the mail! SO, I decided to do two more giveaways before Halloween. One will be an 'end of my trip' giveaway......I have been shopping a lot and I have a full roof top carrier on my car, hehe!!! The second will be a special Halloween giveaway. I'm not sure exactly how this will work but I have seven hours of driving tomorrow to figure that out. And to shop along the way!

Here is the famous Ipswich Clam Box.

The building is shaped like the box your fried clams are packaged in.

Rockport, I will miss you.

I finally did it. I actually remembered to take pictures of where we ate and what we ate. I must be getting full!

Weight Watcher people click out of here now. FAST!!!

Teddy's dinner. Teddy gets steamers, lobster, shrimp or fish each time we eat. She is a very happy pup!

Lobster pie......sigh!!! Huge chunks of lobster soaked in buttery Ritz Cracker crumbs. Actually I could do without the crackers.

Fried oysters.

Steamers. Steamers are little neck clams. They taste like the ocean!

Lobster roll....what can I say? There simply is nothing quite as wonderful as a good lobster roll.

Ok...here it comes. If you are frightened easily, do not go here. Because, there is nothing more frightening than a hungry Chow Chow and steamers.

This is why God gave man ten fingers. We can get by with only seven or eight.

Who would think something this cute could have given my son 8 puncture wounds when she thought he was interfering with her food? All he could say was.....how am I going to play my guitar. This is another separate long story that I will tell at another time. Let's just leave it at this....never get between a Chow Chow and food.

Clam sliders. She doesn't even chew them.

So, stop back to check out the details of the giveaways! I should have the info up on Tuesday.

Halloween and Salem

Who recognizes this building?????? Ferris....Ferris. This is the building from the movie Hocus Pocus. Remember when the witches were in the incinerator? This used to be a school and now it is condos.

A Celtic cross on a post by a driveway.

Crow Haven Corner.....a witch store.

They do tarot readings.

A huge bronze sculpture beside the museum.

Witches for sale.

A witch bridal hat.

This is the place for spooky!

Another witch bridal hat.

This art is amazing. The artist painted the plastic and metal vintage witch collectibles that are so expensive and popular right now. The paintings look exactly like plastic and metal.

A cat painted by the artist.

This is a maze which was being set up on Hawthorne Commons. I am sure it will be filled with pumpkins too.

Hawthorne Commons is right in the heart of Salem next to the Hawthorne Hotel. When my children were small we had a red light up football and would go out late at night and toss the football around in the dark.

This house looks out on Hawthorne Commons.
Another house on the Commons.

And another....these homes are huge. They are over 6000 or more square feet.

Salem is home to a fabulous candy company called Harbor Sweets.

There will be pieces of their wonderful candy in the next giveaway which I will hopefully have posted tomorrow. I just returned home and can't get it together tonight.....yawn!!!!

You can see the toffee on the tables waiting to be cut.

A woman sits at a table wrapping each individual piece. No mass production here.

You can see the hand packed boxes sitting on the table to the right.

They have a TV showing how their chocolates are made.

This is their signature piece. It is called a 'sweet sloop'. It looks like a sailboat and is made of toffee, covered in white chocolate. The bottom is dipped in dark chocolate and chopped nuts.

A few more views of Salem. This is a steeple on one of the many churches in town.

One of the many "haunted" tourist attractions.

This is a very interesting place. It sits adjacent to the Salem Burial Ground I showed you the other day. There were terrible rains in Salem years ago and the foundation to this building gave way and the cemetery washed into the basement. Ever since, the building has been haunted. Businesses open but close very quickly here. It sits empty for long periods of time. Recently it opened as a restaurant again so we shall see how long it lasts.

Here is another wonderful example of the architecture you can see in this town.

More tomorrow and I hope to have the giveaway up and running. Now it is time to Zzzzzzzzzz. Night!!!!

A Halloween Storm

I am traveling all day today so I will just post some pics of the Nor'easter that blew through here. This was a wicked storm! Perfect for this time of year.

Look back to the pic of the lobsterman pulling in the trap from a couple days ago. He was right where the big wave is above.

No fishing in these waters.

I am heading back to Skaneateles and will hopefully get some really good pictures to post.

I won't know who won my bag of goodies on Mrs. B's giveaway until Sunday (I am writing this on Saturday night) because I will be in bed early so I can leave at the crack of dawn if not before. I will let you know who the winner is when I find out or you can just check at Mrs. B's.

I am thinking about doing my own giveaway when I return home.

I wish everyone could win something!

Let me know if you would be interested in a Halloween giveaway on Octoberfarm????

I still have more pics of Salem that I will be posting in the next couple days.

Then back home to regular life!

But I am not complaining because then it will be serious Halloween time!

I will be posting some of my Halloween food recipes. I don't make things with gummy bugs or anything like that. I make the REAL stuff!

I am so glad you came along with me on this trip!

Good luck with the giveaway!!!!

UPDATE: The winner is RUE!!!! I will be shipping it out as soon as I return home!!! Congrats!!!!
